The Secondary section of the School of the Nations comprises of six levels; Forms 1 to 6. The school year for students is from the last week of August to June. Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 25 students per class.

English is the medium of language, though about 18% of the time is dedicated to learning Mandarin Chinese. Both the English and the Mandarin programs are designed to cater for the range of students from 'beginners' of that language to 'native speakers' of that language.

The Secondary program builds initially to Form 4 with the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) certificate. The IGCSE is the world's most popular international qualification for 14–16 year olds. It develops successful students, giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education, including progression to higher level study or immediate employment. The Cambridge IGCSE is recognized by universities and employers worldwide.

The final two years of the Secondary program, students prepare for International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. This program is designed as an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, normally aged 16-19, for success at university and life beyond.
